An Upazila of Chittagong district under the Directorate of Agriculture Extension has been able to increase the production of paddy and other crops in the last three years by transferring technology to the farmers in order to meet the food and nutritional needs of the growing population from the diminishing cultivable land. The use of non-urea fertilizers has increased by 275 Mt in FY 2022-2023 as compared to 2021-22 through strengthening extension activities. In order to achieve self-sufficiency in the production of grains, modern and salinity and waterlogging tolerant varieties of various crops, water saving technology, balanced use of fertilizers, parching, modern farming, quality seed production and conservation, increasing the production and use of organic and green manures to protect soil health, vermi Success has been achieved in technology expansion such as compost production. Apart from this, in the last four years, about 3030 farmers, including women, have been trained on modern technology in order to increase the production through the creation of fruit and vegetable gardens in different areas of the upazila, as well as to involve almost half of the total population in agriculture.
